Wczesne wykrycie choroby jest szansą na skuteczną walkę z nowotworem. To motto tegorocznego Światowego Dnia Walki z Rakiem. Co roku obchodzimy go 4 lutego. W Polsce rocznie wykrywanych jest blisko 160 tysięcy nowych zachorowań na raka, 90 tysięcy umiera z tego powodu. Całkowicie wyleczyć udaje się już 45% chorych. Zdaniem Międzynarodowej Unii do Walki z Rakiem w społeczeństwie wciąż panuje mit, że nowotwór nie daje żadnych objawów i nie można nic zrobić, aby zapobiec zachorowaniu. To oczywiście nieprawda. Potwierdzają to panie, które coraz częściej korzystają z badan mammograficznych.
Dodajmy, że dzisiaj młodzież obchodzi też Dzień Hakowicza. To ludzie działający w ramach Ogólnopolskiego Programu „Mam haka na raka”. Dzisiaj 3,5 tysiąca młodzieży w całej Polsce będzie edukować społeczeństwo na temat nowotworów układu chłonnego – chłoniaków oraz zachęcać mieszkańców swoich miast do badań profilaktycznych. W akcji biorą udział dziesiątki szkół w całej Polsce, w tym te z Kościerzyny, Chojnic, Helu i Władysławowa.
