Kaszubi pożegnają dziś w Sopocie profesora Edwarda Brezę
Kaszubi pożegnają dzisiaj w Sopocie profesora Edwarda Brezę – wielkiego Kaszuba, badacza języka kaszubskiego i wspaniałego, życzliwego człowieka. Profesor zmarł przed tygodniem w wieku 85 lat.
– Był dla nasz przede wszystkim autorytetem – podkreśla dyrektor kościerskiego muzeum dr Krzysztof Jażdżewski.
Znany był jako badacz nazwisk i nazw miejscowych na Kaszubach i Pomorzu. Miał na koncie ponad 2 tys 200 publikacji naukowych i popularnonaukowych. Angażował się w działalność Rady Języka Kaszubskiego, a także Muzeum Ziemi Kościerskiej, gdzie zasiadał w jury wojewódzkiego konkursu „Kaszubi wczoraj i dziś”. Do najważniejszych publikacji profesora Brezy należą: „Toponimia powiatu kościerskiego”, „Nazwiska Pomorzan” i wydana wspólnie z profesorem Trederem „Gramatyka Kaszubska”. – Spuścizna naukowa profesora będzie żyła dalej– podkreśla jego przyjaciel, profesor Tadeusz Linkner. Msza święta żałobna odbędzie się dzisiaj o 12:00 w kościele św. Bernarda w Sopocie. Po niej kondukt pogrzebowy przejdzie na cmentarz przy ulicy Malczewskiego.
