W Gdyni samorząd wesprze mieszkańców tzw. Pekinu w wynajmie nowych mieszkań. To część programu osłonowego przyjętego na ostatniej sesji przez miejskich radnych.
Pekin, czy Wzgórze Orlicz – Dreszera na Leszczynkach, to jeden z sześciu obszarów objętych rewitalizacją. Większość terenu zajmują rudery, często bez prądu i wody, postawione bez dopełnienia żadnych formalności w czasach gwałtownego rozwoju miasta. Program osłonowy skierowany jest do około 120-u rodzin. Z miejskiego budżetu na jego realizację przeznaczono ponad 7 mln zł – wyjaśniał wiceprezydent Gdyni Michał Guć. 120 rodzin z Pekinu ma otrzymać pomoc w znalezieniu nowego mieszkania i adaptacji w nowych warunkach. Wsparcie będzie też finansowe – minimum przez dwa lata. Na bezterminową pomoc pieniężną mogą liczyć osoby powyżej 65 lat bądź niepełnosprawne, które nie mają realnych perspektyw na poprawę swojej sytuacji społecznej i zawodowej.
