Powiat kartuski chce zadbać o seniorów. Samorząd zamierza pozyskać środki na rozwój systemu teleopieki. Według projektu pomocą mają zostać objęte osoby starsze, samotne, chore i niepełnosprawne.

Teleopieka to 24-godzinna piecza nad potrzebującymi, pomoc jest udzielana w razie wypadku, pożaru, zasłabnięcia. Samorząd powiatowy chciałby ją zapewnić wszystkim mieszkańcom potrzebujących tej formy wsparcia i wyposażyć ich w specjalne aparaty telefoniczne. Starostwo powiatowe zamierza też powołać Kluby Seniora i kawiarenki – miejsca wypoczynku dla osób starszych połączone z aktywnością fizyczną.
