W Gdańsku dziś otwarcie Muzeum II Wojny Światowej
Prace nad koncepcją, realizacją wystawy i budową siedziby trwały od 2008 roku. Gdańska placówka jest największym historycznym muzeum w Polsce, wystawa główna zajmuje powierzchnię niemal 5 tys. m2.
Zlokalizowana jest na najniższym poziomie budynku, 14 metrów pod ziemią. To opowieść o tragicznym doświadczeniu II wojny światowej, o jej genezie i skutkach, o ofiarach i sprawcach, o bohaterach i zwykłych ludziach. Trasa zwiedzania prowadzi od części poświęconej genezie wojny, poprzez fragmenty ukazujące kolejne fazy konfliktu, aż po jego zakończenie i skutki. Ekspozycję wyposażono w ok. 240 stanowisk multimedialnych.
Muzeum będzie działać od wtorku do niedzieli w godzinach 10:00 – 19:00, przy czym ostatnie wejście na wystawę główną możliwe jest do godziny 17:00. Placówka mieści się przy placu Władysława Bartoszewskiego w Gdańsku.
