Strażnicy miejscy sprawdzają ponad 2 tysiące przydomowych pieców. Za spalanie w nich śmieci grozi mandat w wysokości 500 zł. Do tego od kilku dni do mieszkańców trafiają ankieterzy z Urzędu Miasta, którzy pytają o to, czym palą mieszkańcy, jakich pieców używają oraz ile spalają danego paliwa. Jak mówi komendant straży miejskiej Tomasz Smuczyński – przyczyną ciemnych i nieprzyjemnych dymów nad Kościerzyną jest najczęściej słaba jakość węgla. Za spalanie śmieci grozi mandat w wysokości 500 zł. Jeśli sprawa trafi do sądu, ten może nałożyć nawet 5 tys. zł grzywny.
