Medale imienia Eugeniusza Kwiatkowskiego odebrali zasłużeni dla Gdyni na uroczystej sesji rady miasta.
Była to kulminacja obchodów 91. rocznicy nadania praw miejskich. Wręczenie najważniejszego gdyńskiego odznaczenia za szczególne osiągnięcia, które wpisały się w historię miasta, to już urodzinowa tradycja. Grono 60-u laureatów powiększyło się o dwie osoby oraz… jeden klub sportowy. Medal odebrał Leszek Kopeć- producent filmowy, przedsiębiorca i wydawca, współtwórca i dyrektor Gdyńskiej Szkoły Filmowej, wieloletni dyrektor Festiwalu Filmowego w Gdyni.
Inżynier Władysław Wiśniewski zgłosił ich ponad sto, większość była własnością Stoczni im. Komuny Paryskiej. Medal trafił także do Wojskowego Klubu Sportowego Flota – skupiającego kilkuset zawodników i zawodniczek oraz m.in. trenerów kadry narodowej i olimpijskiej. Klub jest młodszy od Gdyni o 10 lat – w ubiegłym roku obchodził 80. urodziny.
