Dziś mijają 72 lata od rozpoczęcia Marszu Śmierci więźniów Stutthofu
Dziś obchodzimy 72 rocznicę Marszu Śmierci więźniów Stutthofu. W intencji ofiar odbędzie się dziś msza święta w Archikatedrze Oliwskiej.
Marsz Śmierci rozpoczął się 25 stycznia 1945 roku, gdy wojska radzieckie zbliżyły się do niemieckiego, nazistowskiego obozu koncentracyjnego Stutthof. Łącznie wyruszyło ponad 11 tys osadzonych, ich celem były obozy służby pracy w okolicach Lęborka. Kolumny więźniów przebywały codziennie ponad 20 km, brnąc w głębokim śniegu, przy temperaturze -20°C. Wielu nie podołało trudom marszu, więźniów dziesiątkowały też głód i choroby w obozach ewakuacyjnych, w których przebywali do marca. Te warunki przetrwało 7 tys osób – z brakujących 4 tys. połowa to udane ucieczki, pozostali to ofiary ewakuacji.
