Muzeum II Wojny Światowej w Gdańsku zaprezentowało niemal gotową wystawę główną. Cytowany przez portal Dzieje.pl dyrektor placówki Paweł Machcewicz ocenił, że jej otwarcie dla szerokiej publiczności mogłoby nastąpić w marcu.
Prace nad ekspozycją trwały osiem lat. Na powierzchni 5. tys metrów kwadratowych umieszczono 2 i pół tysiąca eksponatów. Jest 250 stanowisk multimedialnych – a na nich archiwalne filmy, zdjęcia i dokumenty oraz wywiady ze świadkami wojny i interaktywne prezentacje. Wystawa główna obrazuje panujące w Europie nastroje, które doprowadziły do wybuchu II wojny światowej, działania militarne, losy ludności cywilnej, ruchy oporu i bohaterstwo zwykłych ludzi. Dla dzieci jest wystawa „Podróż w czasie” – zrekonstruowane wnętrze mieszkania warszawskiej rodziny w trzech różnych okresach wojny.
