Wizyty mundurowych mogą się spodziewać właściciele nieruchomości, którzy nie mają przyłącza do sieci kanalizacji miejskiej, choć przebiega ona w pobliżu ich posesji.
Takich nieruchomości jest w Wejherowie 73, najwięcej posesji wyposażonych w szamba jest na osiedlu Sucharskiego i w Śmiechowie. Wszystkie skontrolują strażnicy miejscy, sprawdzać będą umowy na wywóz nieczystości oraz rachunki. Będą też ustalać czy zbiorniki spełniają wymogi określone w przepisach. Na postawie sporządzonego przez nich raportu urzędnicy zweryfikują ilość wywożonych nieczystości z ilością zużytej wody. Jednym z powodów kontroli są przypadki nielegalnego wypompowywania nieczystości – m.in. do przydrożnych rowów.
Miasto chce też zachęcić do przyłączania się do sieci. Likwidacja zbiorników bezodpływowych i włączenie nieruchomości do systemu kanalizacji ściekowej jest realizacją zobowiązań określonych w Krajowym Programie Oczyszczania Ścieków Komunalnych.
