W Gdyni w śródmieściu rozrasta się strefa ograniczonej prędkości
Trwa wdrażanie zmian w organizacji ruchu drogowego w Śródmieściu Gdyni, polegających na wyznaczeniu strefy ograniczonej prędkości, czyli tzw. Tempo 30.
Trzymaj Tempo 30 i prawą wolną – w Gdyni w śródmieściu strefa ograniczonej prędkości zostanie jeszcze poszerzona.
Oprócz niższej prędkości poruszania się pojazdami, kierowcy powinni przyzwyczaić się tam do korzystania z „zasady prawej ręki”, gdyż część skrzyżowań została zamieniona na równorzędne. We wrześniu strefą ograniczenia prędkości objęto ulice: Starowiejską, Mściwoja, Zgoda, Zygmunta Augusta i fragment Abrahama. Październikowe przygotowania skupiły się na większości pozostałych, bocznych ulicach centrum, w tym Żeromskiego i Abrahama. Skrzyżowań równorzędnych nie wprowadzono na ulicy Świętojańskiej. Jak wyjaśnia Zarząd Dróg i Zieleni w Gdyni – na wielu ulicach, które znajdują się w strefie już wcześniej nie było warunków do rozwijania wyższych prędkości niż 30 km/h. Są po prostu zbyt wąskie. W kilku miejscach zastosowano jednak rozwiązanie, które zmusi kierowców do zdjęcia nogi z gazu. Kilka skrzyżowań z ulicami Abrahama, Żeromskiego czy Słowackiego ma teraz status „równorzędnych” – co oznacza, że kierujący powinien upewnić się, czy z prawej strony nie zbliża się inny pojazd.
Kolejnym etapem zmian w śródmieściu będzie wprowadzenie udogodnień dla ruchu rowerowego.
