Gdynia – lider w polityce międzypokoleniowej
Opieka i aktywizacja – dwa filary na których gdyński samorząd budował swoja politykę senioralną zostały docenione na świecie. Jako pierwsze miasto w Polsce Gdynia została uhonorowana przez Światową Organizację Zdrowia certyfikatem „Miasto przyjazne starzeniu”.
– Naszym założeniem było traktowanie seniorów jako integralnej części naszego społeczeństwa, a nie osobnej grupy – mówi wiceprezydent Gdyni Michał Guć.
Dołączyła tym samym do obejmującej ponad sto milionów mieszkańców sieci gmin i miast na całym świecie, nagrodzonych za prowadzenie konsekwentnej i skutecznej polityki wobec osób starszych. Polityka senioralna Gdyni sięga 2004 roku, kiedy utworzono pierwszą w Polsce Radę Seniorów, skupiającą m.in studentów Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku i samorządowców. W ciągu 12. lat Gdyni rozwinięto m.in. sieć klubów seniora, otwarto Centrum Aktywności Seniora czy wdrożono nowatorski program Gdynia 55+. – Obecnie trwają przygotowania do szerokich konsultacji społecznych dotyczących polityki międzypokoleniowej – mówi wicedyrektor gdyńskiego MOPS Katarzyna Stec. Konsultacje mają ruszyć po nowym roku. Będą miały formę debat i warsztatów, przewidziano też ankiety – w tym elektroniczne.
