Gdyńska pływalnia olimpijska o krok bliżej dofinansowania – została wpisana na listę inwestycji o szczególnym znaczeniu dla sportu.
Zakwalifikowała się do Planu Wieloletniego, co umożliwi ubieganie się o dofinansowanie 50 procent wydatków kwalifikowanych. Warunkiem uzyskania dofinansowania jest wpisanie zadania do kolejnego Planu Rocznego i akceptacja przez Ministra Sportu i Turystyki wniosku inwestycyjnego, co ma nastąpić w przyszłym roku. Miasto przygotowuje się obecnie do przetargu na wykonawcę dokumentacji projektowej. Gdyńska pływalnia olimpijska to oczywiście 50 metrowy basen, który w miarę potrzeb będzie można podzielić na dwie części. Ma też pomieścić basen rozgrzewkowy, strefę rekreacji dla najmłodszych i odnowy biologicznej, zakłada się także budowę podziemnego parkingu.
Gdyńska inwestycja rozwiąże problem całego regionu, w którym brakuje pływalni o wymiarach olimpijskich. Najbliżej zlokalizowane obiekty 50-metrowe znajdują się w Olsztynie i Poznaniu. Całkowity koszt szacuje się na 70 milionów złotych, a oddanie do użytku na 2019 rok.
