Regatami 70-lecia Yacht Klubu Stal Gdynia rozpoczęli sezon żeglarski
Piotr Tarnacki i Maciej Marczewski zwycięzcami Regat 70 lecia Yacht Klubu Stal Gdynia. Jubileuszowy wyścig był pierwszym biegiem otwierającym sezon żeglarski na Pomorzu.
– Znakomita pogoda i doskonała okazja do treningu – podsumował swoje wrażenia po zwycięstwie Maciej Marczewski.
Impreza wpisała się w jeszcze jedną okrągła rocznicę – weszła w cykl Regat o Puchar Rady Miasta organizowany z okazji 90 lecia Gdyni. Jak podkreśla przewodnicząca gdyńskiej rady miejskiej, Joanna Zielińska – to sezon bardzo ważny, bo dla wielu zawodników to ostatni sprawdzian umiejętności przed igrzyskami w Rio de Janeiro. Komentuje wieloletnie sukcesy klubu jego komandor Kajetan Kilanowski. Do walki o trofeum stanęło około 30 jednostek w kategorii open. Trasę z Gdyni do Sopotu i z powrotem najszybciej pokonała załoga katamarana 77 Racing.
Jak co roku uczczono także wybitną postać żeglarstwa – po regatach w gdyńskiej Alei Żeglarstwa Polskiego odsłonięto tablicę Zdzisława Pieńkawy – kapitana jachtu Otago, który w latach 1973-74 wziął udział w pierwszych regatach okołoziemskich Whitbread Round The World Race.
