Triumfem załogi z Wejherowa zakończyły się siódme Regaty „TrójCup” 2016. Rumia – ubiegłoroczny zwycięzca – uplasowała się na piątym miejscu.
„TrójCup” jest sposobem na promowanie Małego Trójmiasta Kaszubskiego przez żeglarstwo. Regaty rozegrano na wodach Zatoki Gdańskiej. W szranki stanęło siedem załóg – z Rumi, Redy, Wejherowa, Gdyni, Gdańska, Jastarni i Helu. Zawodnicy rywalizowali na jachtach typu Delphia 40. Warunki pogodowe nie sprzyjały żeglarzom, odbyły się dwa biegi: na trasie Gdynia – Sopot i Jastarnia – Gdynia.
Zwycięstwo wywalczyła wejherowska załoga w składzie: Krzysztof Mączkowiak – skiper, Bogusław Suwara, Wojciech Kozłowski, Tomasz Kamiński, Leszek Glaza, Krzysztof Gajewski, Andrzej Kotłowski i Jacek Sosiński. W ciągu siedmiu edycji regat TrójCup zwycięski puchar Wejherowo zdobyło cztery razy.
