Ponad 70 tysięcy złotych dotacji rozdysponowało wejherowskie starostwo powiatowe pomiędzy lokalne kluby sportowe.
Pieniądze trafiły do sześciu najaktywniejszych organizacji, a także do jednego sportowca indywidualnego. Dotacje mają być przeznaczone na promocję powiatu wejherowskiego i propagowanie sportu. – Wspieramy sportowców nie tylko ze względów promocyjnych, ich działania są nieocenione w procesie wychowywania naszej młodzieży – mówi wejherowski starosta, Gabriela Lisius.
Najwięcej, bo 30 tysięcy złotych otrzymał najstarszy w Wejherowie WKS Gryf, a 10 tysięcy mniej prężenie rozwijający się Tytani, którzy po sześciu latach tułaczki zmienili w tym roku siedzibę. Grant trafił też w ręce Mateusza Ostaszewskiego – utytułowanego wejherowskiego strongmena, a także organizatora wielu akcji charytatywnych czy pierwszych w powiecie zawodów strongemnów. – Takie wyróżnienie to duże wsparcie, które daje motywację do jeszcze aktywniejszego działania – mówi prezes KD Tytani, Remigiusz Sałata.

Mateusz Ostaszewski w Stanach Zjednoczonych na zawodach strongmenów oraz triathlonista Paweł Reszke na mistrzostwach świata Ironman w Australii.
