Po latach nieobecności wilki powróciły na Pomorze. W lasach może żyć nawet 30-35 wilków; najwięcej w rejonie Człuchowa, Miastka i Malborka – wynika z informacji Regionalnej Dyrekcji Ochrony Środowiska w Gdańsku. Szczegółowych danych nie ma dlatego RDOŚ chce przeprowadzić akcję liczenia pomorskiej watahy, która pojawia się już nawet w lasach w rejonie metropolii. Drapieżniki policzone zostaną zimą kiedy to leśnicy policzą tropy na śniegu. Przestraszonych uspokajamy, zwierzęta te nie stanowią zagrożenia dla człowieka. W większości dieta wilka opiera się na zwierzętach leśnych – przede wszystkim jeleniach, sarnach, a także bobrach i dzikach. Zdarza się, że wilki zaatakują zwierzęta hodowlane. Wilki są chronione w Polsce od 1998 roku. To zmniejszyło ich odstrzał i pozwoliło rozwijać populację.
