Z Bydgoszczy, Łomży, Kutna a nawet z Zaporoża na Ukrainie – z takich między innymi miejscowości pochodzą studenci pierwszego roku etnofilologii kaszubskiej na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim.
Po pierwszym miesiącu nauki 14 osób rozpoczęło obóz naukowy w Wieżycy w Kaszubskim Uniwersytecie Ludowym. Oprócz nauki języka, będą tam poznawali kulturę i historię kaszubską a także realia życia na Kaszubach. Dla wielu z nich to pierwsze zetknięcie z wsią kaszubską. Na pierwszym roku etnofilologii studiuje 14 studentów, na drugim – 7. To pierwszy kierunek kaszubski na studiach wyższych, absolwenci będą mogli uczyć języka kaszubskiego w szkole, a także pracować w mediach regionalnych i instytucjach kultury.
