Dzisiaj Zjazd Sybiraków
Dziesiąty Światowy Zjazd Sybiraków odbędzie się dziś w Szymbarku. Organizowany jest co roku 17 września, w rocznicę ataku Armii Czerwonej na Polskę w 1939 roku. W Centrum Edukacji i Promocji Regionu spotykają się Sybiracy, którym udało się powrócić z katorgi wschodu, Rodzina Katyńska oraz wszyscy, który chcą by przetrwała pamięć o zesłańcach. Tegoroczne obchody będą połączone z 20.tą rocznicą wyprowadzenia Wojsk Radzieckich z Polski – to decyzja prezydenta Lecha Wałęsy, który zapowiedział udział w uroczystościach w Szymbarku. Rozpoczną się one o godzinie 13:00 apelem poległych i mszą świętą, będzie też koncert przygotowany przez Reprezentacyjny Zespół Wojska Polskiego, biesiada patriotyczna i odsłonięcie pomnika Niedźwiedzia Wojtka. To oswojony i wychowany przez żołnierzy niedźwiedź brunatny, który przemierzył cały szlak bojowy z drugim Korpusem Polskim gen. Władysława Andersa – od Iranu, przez Irak, Palestynę, Egipt, do Włoch. W bitwie pod Monte Cassino dźwigał ciężkie pociski artyleryjskie na pozycje.
