Kombatanci oddali cześć poległym i wspomnieli lata grozy
By oddać cześć poległym i wspomnieć lata grozy – kombatanci, samorządowcy i młodzież spotkali się dzisiaj w Białej w gminie Wejherowo, na uroczystości upamiętniającej miejsce walki i śmierci żołnierzy Pierwszego Morskiego Pułku Strzelców.
W tamtejszym lesie spoczywają obrońcy, którzy 7 i 8 września 1939 roku zginęli w krwawych walkach z hitlerowskim najeźdźcą. W lasach Białej rozbrzmiał apel poległych i salwa honorowa, a przedstawiciele wejherowskich samorządów, instytucji i delegacje szkolne złożyli kwiaty na grobach żołnierzy. Poległych kompanów wspominał też jeden z ostatnich uczestników tamtych wydarzeń, porucznik w stanie spoczynku Aleksander Pawelec. W ciągu 19 dni kampanii wrześniowej strzelcy bronili odcinka między Wejherowem a Kępą Oksywską, ich straty sięgnęły niemal tysiąca zabitych i rannych.
