Nowa linia tramwajowa w Gdańsku ruszy w poniedziałek
Nowa trasa tramwajowa, która połączy Gdańsk Śródmieście z dzielnicą Piecki – Migowo, ruszy w przyszły poniedziałek. To miesiąc wcześniej niż zakładano.
Oddanie do użytku nowej linii przyśpieszono ze względu na inaugurację pierwszego września regularnego kursowania Pomorskiej Kolei Metropolitalnej – czyli nowej linii kolejowej z Wrzeszcza do lotniska w Rębiechowie. Nowa trasa tramwajowa ma około czterech i pół kilometra długości. Jest na niej osiem przystanków – od pętli Siedlce wzdłuż ulicy Kartuskiej, przez Nowolipie, Rakoczego aż do przystanku Brętowo Pomorskiej Kolei Metropolitalnej, gdzie po raz pierwszy w Polsce zastosowano rozwiązanie umożliwiające przesiadkę z tramwaju do pociągu na tym samym peronie. Na nowej trasie kursować będą tramwaje linii 10 i 12. W godzinach szczytu w dni powszednie na wspólnym odcinku ze Śródmieścia do Piecek-Migowa będą kursować naprzemiennie co pięć minut, w pozostałych porach dnia co 10-15 minut.
Uruchomienie 31 sierpnia nowej linii tramwajowej spowoduje wiele zmian w funkcjonowaniu komunikacji zbiorowej w Gdańsku. Trasy wielu linii autobusowych zostaną zmienione – wydłużone lub skrócone – a niektóre zlikwidowane.
