KOŚCIERZYNA: Zły stan powietrza w mieście
Mieszkańcy Kościerzyny nadal oddychają rakotwórczym bensoalfapirenem. Stan powietrza w mieście jest zły – wynika z raportu przedstawionego radnym powiatu kościerskiego przez naczelnika wydziału Monitoringu Wojewódzkiego Inspektoratu Ochrony Środowiska w Gdańsku.
Inspektorzy jak co roku zbadali jakość powietrza, wód powierzchniowych, hałas i promieniowanie elektromagnetyczne. Ogólny stan środowiska powiatu kościerskiego oceniono jako dobry, wyjątkiem jest tu Kościerzyna z bardzo zanieczyszczonym powietrzem. To problem z którym miasto zmaga się od lat. W powietrzu nadal jest bardzo dużo m.in. rakotwórczego bensoalfapirenu – co oznacza że mieszkańcy nadal palą w piecach odpady, w tym różne tworzywa sztuczne – mówi Jarosław Stańczyk naczelnik wydziału Monitoringu Wojewódzkiego Inspektoratu Ochrony Środowiska w Gdańsku.
Dla Kościerzyny stworzono już program naprawczy ochrony powietrza. Radni przyjęli ostatnio również wieloletni „Program Ochrony Środowiska dla Gminy Miejskiej Kościerzyna”, w którym poprawa jakości powietrza ma być priorytetem. Zdaniem samorządu sposobem na poprawę sytuacji byłoby podłączenie jak największej ilości gospodarstw do sieci ciepłowniczych i wymiana pieców węglowych na bardziej ekologiczne.
