Salwami z ORP Błyskawica w Gdyni rozpoczęto w sobotę Święto Morza. Obchody potrwają do 28 czerwca.
Idea Święta Morza nawiązuje do okresu II Rzeczypospolitej, kiedy z inicjatywy Ligi Morskiej i Kolonialnej obchodzono to święto po raz pierwszy w 1932 roku. Do Gdyni przyjechało wtedy ponad sto tysięcy osób. Wydarzenie w przedwojennym stylu wskrzeszono w tym mieście w 2013 roku. Ma być okazją do ciekawego spędzenia czasu i zwrócić uwagę mieszkańców i turystów na znaczenie gospodarcze morza dla regionu – podkreślali na inauguracji Gdyński samorządowcy i zaproszeni goście. W trakcie trwającego osiem dni Święta Morza odbędzie się w sumie prawie 40 imprez, będą m.in. pokazy ratownictwa, ćwiczenia antyterrorystyczne na Zatoce Gdańskiej oraz dni otwarte instytutów naukowych. Pomorski Związek Żeglarski w swojej siedzibie we współpracy z gdańską Akademią Wychowania Fizycznego i Sportu udostępnia symulator żeglarski, w którym można żeglowanie potrenować na sucho. Są też bezpłatne rejsy dwoma jachtami, na które należy się wcześniej zarejestrować telefonicznie.
