Kartuski rynek od strony deptaka będzie zamknięty dla ruchu kołowego – by zrobić miejsce dla pieszych i ogródków gastronomicznych. Zmiana zacznie obowiązywać od najbliższego poniedziałku.
– To pierwszy etap zapowiadanych zmian – wyjaśnia burmistrz Grzegorz Gołuński.
Wprowadzona zostania w obrębie ulic Rynek i Bielińskiego oraz na części ulic: Kościuszki i Dworcowej. Oznacza to, że ulice Kościuszki będą dojazdowymi do ulicy Rynek, a Rynek będzie można opuścić wyłącznie ulicą Dworcową, która częściowo będzie teraz jednokierunkowa – między Bielińskiego do ulicy Rynek. Dodatkowo Bielińskiego będzie również ulicą jednokierunkową i nie będzie możliwości wjazdu z 3 Maja. Po zamknięciu części rynku dla samochodów rozpocznie się tam zdejmowanie asfaltu i odsłanianie zabytkowej kostki brukowej. Gmina Kartuzy jest już po rozmowach z restauratorami, którzy będą mogli wykorzystać zamkniętą część rynku. Samorząd wydzierżawi też pomieszczenia, które w centrum miasta zwolnił wydział kultury, sportu i NGO.
