Zastępca komendanta miejskiego w Gdyni odwołany – nadkomisarz Marcin Potrykus w niedzielę dowodził operacją zabezpieczenia meczu w tym mieście. Na plaży doszło do bójki między kibicami a marynarzami z Meksyku, jest wniosek o areszt dla dwóch podejrzanych w tej sprawie. Komendant Wojewódzki w Gdańsku odwołał zastępca komendanta w Gdyni, bo mimo dużych sił policyjnych nie wystawiono patroli na plaży, co mogłoby prewencyjnie oddziaływać na zgromadzone tam osoby. Negatywnie oceniono także brak aktywności policjantów i niezatrzymanie uczestników bójki jeszcze w Gdyni – przed meczem czy tuż po nim. W związku z bijatyką zarzuty udziału w pobiciu o charakterze chuligańskim usłyszało dwóch pseudokibiców Ruchu Chorzów. Grozi im do trzech lat więzienia. Wyjaśnia prokurator rejonowy Witold Niesiołowski. Prokuratura wystąpiła do sądu o areszt dla obu kibiców podejrzewanych o pobicie meksykańskich żeglarzy. Prokuratura nie wyklucza postawienia zarzutów kolejnym osobom, a policja – kolejnych zatrzymań. Do tej pory w sprawie gdyńskiej bójki zatrzymano trzech Polaków – dwóch w niedzielę, trzeciego wczoraj w Rudzie Śląskiej, do dyspozycji policji pozostaje jeden Meksykanin. Prokuratura poinformowała, że meksykańscy marynarze mają w śledztwie status pokrzywdzonych.
