Różne oblicza emigracji w nowym muzeum w Gdyni
Losy i historie emigrantów dawnych i współczesnych pokazywać będzie Muzeum Emigracji w Gdyni. W sobotę odbędzie się uroczyste przecięcie wstęgi i otwarcie placówki dla zwiedzających – zapowiedziały dziś władze miasta.
– Dzisiaj muzea to coś więcej niż eksponaty, to miejsca spotkań – mówi prezydent Gdyni, Wojciech Szczurek.
Muzeum powstało w historycznym budynku Dworca Morskiego, w którym niegdyś ostatnie kroki stawiali opuszczający kraj emigranci. Ma przypominać historię poprzez kontekst wielkich emigracji z Polski, a także łączyć Gdynian. Instytucja startuje z wysokiego C, najnowocześniejszą w kraju wystawą stałą, która przybliża dzieje emigracji z ziem polskich od 19. wieku do czasów współczesnych. Wisienką na torcie są eksponaty o wyjątkowej wartości – to korespondencja pomiędzy Janem Pawłem Drugim, a doradcą prezydenta Cartera profesorem Zbigniewem Brzezińskim. Do obejrzenia listów zaprasza dyrektor muzeum Karolina Grabowicz-Matyjas. Muzeum Emigracji w Gdyni posiada także kino, w którym podczas nocy muzeów będzie można obejrzeć filmy o życiu w gdyńskim porcie. Czas umilą także zaproszeni muzycy, m. in. Mika Urbaniak i Victor Davies. Uroczyste przecięcie wstęgi w sobotę, o godzinie 18:00. (Foto Dominik Werner).
