Kiedy świętować rocznicę wyzwolenia Wejherowa
To hołd oprawcom z Armii Czerwonej czy oddanie czci poległym w czasie II wojny światowej? W Wejherowie rozgorzała dyskusja o idei świętowania rocznicy wyzwolenia miasta.
Po długich latach II wojny światowej Armia Czerwona wkroczyła do Wejherowa 12 marca 1945 roku. „Pojawieniu się wojsk radzieckich towarzyszyły grabieże, a życie straciło kilkuset mieszkańców Wejherowa” – te fakty w liście otwartym do władz miasta przypomina dzisiaj Ruch Społeczny dla Wejherowa. – Jego członkowie apelują o nie nazywanie 12 marca datą wyzwolenia miasta, a także odejście od uroczystych obchodów – mówi Karol Rhode, a odpowiada wiceprezydent Wejherowa Piotr Bochiński. Oficjalne uroczystości odbyły się dzisiaj w południe. O godzinie 18:00 zaplanowano mszę świętą w kolegiacie, w intencji pomordowanych w czasie II wojny światowej, a po niej w auli Jana Pawła II odczytane zostaną wspomnienia świadków z tego okresu.
