Interweniowali średnio co 9 godzin przy pożarach, wypadkach i zdarzeniach losowych – kościerscy strażacy podsumowali rok 2014. Wyjeżdżali 967 razy, o 16% więcej niż w 2013 roku. Jedynie 1/5 zdarzeń dotyczyła pożarów. Pozostałe to wypadki oraz zwiększająca się liczba interwencji związanych z wichurami i silnymi opadami deszczu.
Najwięcej zdarzeń miało miejsce w Kościerzynie i gminie Kościerzyna oraz gminie Karsin. Główną przyczyną pożarów była nieostrożność ludzi, w tym pożary spowodowane niedopałkami papierosów. – Najwięcej pracy strażacy jak co roku mieli w lipcu, sierpniu i grudniu – mówi komendant z Kościerzyny Tomasz Klinkosz. Na ochronę przeciwpożarową w ubiegłym roku gminy z powiatu kościerskiego przeznaczyły łącznie półtora mln złotych. Z części tych środków dokonano remontów w Komendzie, a także zakupiono nowy samochód dla specjalistycznej grupy nurków, która działa w ramach Komendy Straży Pożarnej w Kościerzynie.
