Jest nowy pomysł na ożywienie zmodernizowanego, choć dla wielu przedsiębiorców za drogiego targowiska w Kartuzach. Jak dotąd jedynie siedem z 17 zbudowanych tam sklepików znalazło dzierżawców. Zamiast miejscowych kupców zgłosili się przedsiębiorcy spoza gminy Kartuzy.
Wielu z nich odstraszyły zbyt wysokie ceny za dzierżawę. Za metr kwadratowy boksu trzeba tam zapłacić 103 zł netto. W tej sytuacji drobni handlarze nie byliby w stanie zarobić nawet na czynsz. Zdaniem nowego burmistrza Mieczysława Gołuńskiego – wysoka cena wynika z błędów kalkulacyjnych. Jeśli czynsz będzie niższy to gmina do interesu będzie musiała dołożyć. Dlatego burmistrz proponuje z powrotem na targowisku ustawić stoły, gdzie tak jak dawniej sprzedawali rolnicy i miejscowi producenci. Pomysł miałby zostać zrealizowany w najbliższe wakacje. Z kolei targowisko zwierzęce przy ulicy Sędzickiego w Kartuzach, które również świeci pustkami miałoby zmienić swój charakter. Oprócz giełdy zwierzęcej miałaby też funkcjonować tam giełda samochodowa i meblowa.
