Wrak statku „Cemfjord” zatonął u wybrzeży Szkocji

Ośmiu członków załogi uznaje się za zaginionych. Połowa z nich pochodziła z Trójmiasta -w tym kapitan. Niedziela była drugim dniem poszukiwań rozbitków na północ od wybrzeży Szkocji. Rozpoczęto ją gdy z promu przepływającego przez cieśninę Pentland Firth zauważono częściowo zatopiony kadłub statku, z wystającą pionowo częścią dziobową.
83-metrowy statek przewoził ładunek 2 tys. ton cementu. Wczoraj ośmiu rozbitków szukały 4 łodzie ratownicze, 2 helikoptery i inne statki. Bez powodzenia. Znaleziono czerwony ponton, ale nie ma pewności czy był on na wyposażeniu cementowca. Nie wiadomo, dlaczego statek zatonął. Przed katastrofą załoga nie wysłała żadnego sygnału alarmowego. Czterech członków załogi pochodziło z Trójmiasta, dwóch z zachodniego Pomorza, a jeden ze środkowej Polski. Najmłodszy z Polaków miał 24 lata. Ósmy członek załogi był Filipińczykiem.
