W Gdyni rozpoczyna się żeglarskie święto Volvo Gdynia Sailing Days
Prawie tysiąc żeglarzy, regaty rangi mistrzostw świata i Polski, widowiskowe wyścigi jachtów i na ladzie imprezy towarzyszące – rozpoczyna się Volvo Gdynia Sailing Days.
To już 14 edycja największej w Polsce regatowej imprezy, a druga z kolei pod szyldem marki Volvo. Gdynia Sailing Days to najważniejsze, obok niemieckiego Tygodnia Kilońskiego, tego typu wydarzenie w obrębie basenu Morza Bałtyckiego. W tym roku Żeglarskie Dni Gdyni trwają 11 dni. Do 28 lipca odbędzie się 6 imprez, w których wystąpią wszystkie żeglarskie pokolenia – od najmłodszych, rozpoczynających dopiero swoją regatową przygodę, przez obecnych olimpijczyków, po zawodników, którzy najaktywniejszą przeszłość regatową mają już za sobą. W programie znajdują się aż 3 wydarzenia zaliczane do rankingu Międzynarodowej Federacji Żeglarskiej ISAF. Najbardziej prestiżowe są Mistrzostwa Świata klasy Micro, w których Polska broni tytułu mistrzowskiego zdobytego w zeszłym roku przez załogę Piotra Ogrodnika. Jednym z faworytów jest inny Polak – Piotr Tarnacki, pięciokrotny Mistrz Świata i aktualny Mistrz Polski w tej klasie, który może mieć pewną przewagę nad konkurentami, bo akwen gdyński zna doskonale – swoją przygodę z żeglarstwem zaczynał w klubie Stal Gdynia.
Imprezy towarzyszące Żeglarskim Dniom Gdyni będą się odbywać w Marinie – będą to spotkania ze znanymi żeglarzami, konkursy, zabawy, zawody sportowe a w weekend festyn rodzinny.
