200-lecie istnienia szkoły świętowali uczniowie i mieszkańcy Kornego koło Kościerzyny.
Imię rotmistrza Witolda Pileckiego otrzymała w swoje dwustulecie istnienia, szkoła podstawowa w Kornem koło Kościerzyny. To druga po Przodkowie miejscowość na Kaszubach, która wybrała za patrona bohatera Żołnierzy Wyklętych. Szkoła powstała w 1815 roku, jako jednoklasowa szkoła elementarna w zaborze pruskim. Miała przede wszystkim uczyć czytać i pisać dzieci oraz okolicznych mieszkańców. W 1874 roku postawiono budynek szkoły, który służy uczniom do dziś. Jesteśmy dumni z naszej szkoły i naszej historii – mówiła podczas uroczystości dyrektor Beata Murglin. Szkoła w Kornem z okazji nadania imienia otrzymała też sztandar, a na budynku placówki odsłonięto tablicę pamiątkową.
