Świętujemy dzisiaj Dzień Samorządu Terytorialnego
25 lat temu w Polsce odbyły się pierwsze po wojnie w pełni wolne wybory samorządowe. Z tej okazji świętujemy dzisiaj Dzień Samorządu Terytorialnego.
– To ziściło się w 1990 roku – wspomina obecny przewodniczący rady powiatu kościerskiego a wówczas uczeń szkoły średniej Tomasz Derra.
To z definicji wspólnota, którą tworzą mieszkańcy danej społeczności, a także forma administracji publicznej. 27 maja 1990 roku po raz pierwszy wybierano radnych do rad gmin, którzy zaczęli rządzić zamiast narzucanych w PRL z Warszawy urzędników. Pomorze od lat nazywane jest kolebką samorządności, a jej prekursorem był współtwórca Zrzeszenia Kaszubsko-Pomorskie i sygnatariusz Porozumień Sierpniowych Lech Bądkowski. To on na początku lat 80. redagował pismo „Samorządność”, w którym nawoływał do mobilizacji społeczeństwa i aktywności oraz odpowiedzialności za sprawy swojego regionu. Obecnie w Polsce funkcjonuje 2478 gmin. Reformę samorządową dokończono w 1999 roku, kiedy powstało też 314 powiatów, 66 miast na prawach powiatu oraz 16 województw.
