Jutro obchodzimy Święto Wojska Polskiego
Byli bitni, twardzi i wysoko cenił ich Marszałek Piłsudski – mowa o żołnierzach z 66. Kaszubskiego Pułku Piechoty. O tej nieco zapomnianej dziś formacji mówimy w przededniu Święta Wojska Polskiego.
– Nasi żołnierze pokazali prawdziwe kaszubskie cechy – zawziętość, determinację i ogromną skuteczność w działaniu – opowiada prezes Zrzeszenia Łukasz Grzędzicki.
Święto obchodzone jest na pamiątkę Bitwy Warszawskiej z 1920 roku, która zatrzymała rozlew bolszewickiej rewolucji na Europę Zachodnią i dziś uznawana jest za jedną z 18 przełomowych bitew świata. Swój wkład w zwycięstwo mieli także żołnierze z Kaszub. Początki 66-ego Kaszubskiego Pułku Piechoty im. Józefa Piłsudskiego sięgają powstania wielkopolskiego z 1919 roku, kiedy to powstańców zasilali przedzierający się z Kaszub ochotnicy. W uznaniu ich wartości bojowej z ochotników sformułowano pułk, który rok później bił bolszewików na podwarszawskich polach. O tych wydarzeniach można przeczytać w wydanej w tym roku przez Zrzeszenie Kaszubsko– Pomorskie publikacji „Jak Kaszubi bili bolszewików”. To właśnie żołnierze rodem spod Kartuz, Wejherowa, Kościerzyny czy Pucka rozbili m. in. elitarny 216 pułk im. Włodzimierza Lenina.
