Jest kompromis w sprawie ograniczenia połowów dorsza
Możliwość poławiania w zachodnim stadzie zostanie ograniczona w przyszłym roku o 56 procent w stosunku do roku bieżącego, a we wschodnim stadzie redukcja wyniesie 25 procent. Takie rozwiązanie wypracowali unijni ministrowie odpowiedzialni za sprawy rybołówstwa.
To mniej niż proponowała Komisja Europejska, która opierając się na naukowych opracowaniach chciała redukcji odpowiednio: 88 procent w zachodnim i 39 procent we wschodnim stadzie dorsza. Jak podała Polska Agencja Prasowa podczas spotkania ministrów główne negocjacje toczyły się pomiędzy grupą krajów na czele z Polską, które chciały dużych ograniczeń oraz Danią i Niemcami, które były przeciwko redukcji.
Komisja Europejska zaproponowała, by państwa członkowskie rozważyły wykorzystanie środków unijnych do wsparcia rybaków najbardziej dotkniętych ograniczeniami połowu dorsza. Rekompensaty z unijnych środków w zamian za rezygnacje z połowów były jednym z polskich postulatów podczas negocjacji.
