110 ton azbestu czeka na utylizację w gminie Szemud
W gminie Szemud 110 ton azbestu czeka na utylizację.
– Nieoficjalnie wiadomo, że gmina Szemud została wysoko sklasyfikowana na liście rankingowej i jest dużo prawdopodobieństwo na całkowity zwrot kosztów utylizacji azbestu – mówi wójt gminy Szemud Ryszard Kalkowski.
Minął termin składania wniosków w konkursie „Sprzątamy azbest na Pomorzu”. Ten organizuje Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska w Gdańsku. Tylko w gminie Szemud mieszkańcy chcą zutylizować aż 110 ton odpadów. Chodzi o azbest, który został już zdjęty z dachu i zalega na posesjach lub dzikich wysypiskach. Władze Szemuda zapowiadają, ze to nie koniec oczyszczania terenu z azbestu, potocznie zwanym cichym zabójcą.
Pył azbestowy ma wyjątkowo szkodliwe działanie dla ludzkiego organizmu. Może być przyczyną wielu chorób układu oddechowego jak: pylica azbestowa, zmiany płucne, rak płuc czy rak oskrzeli. Szacuje się, że w Polsce średnia ilość azbestu przypadająca na jedno województwo wynosi 1 milion ton. Zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami, i zobowiązaniem wobec Unii Europejskiej, Polska powinna pozbyć się azbestu najdalej do 2032 r.
