Alarmujące wyniki kontroli NIK odnośnie organizacji wypoczynku dzieci i młodzieży. Rośnie liczba tzw. dzikich wypoczynków, dużo do życzenia pozostawia również standard niektórych obiektów rekreacyjnych.
Kontrole przeprowadzone przez Najwyższą Izbę Kontroli i Państwową Inspekcje Sanitarną wykazały, że organizatorzy niemal jednej trzeciej skontrolowanych kolonii i obozów nie zapewnili uczestnikom odpowiednich warunków zdrowotnych i higieniczno-sanitarnych. Przykładowo teren ośrodka w Kątach Rybackich był ogrodzony siatką z drutem kolczastym, nie zabezpieczono też właściwie otworu studzienki kanalizacyjnej. Na innych obozach brakowało z kolei ciepłej wody, pościel w pokojach była brudna, gniazdka elektryczne były uszkodzone, umywalki pęknięte, nie zabezpieczono też kominków w domkach przed dostępem dzieci. NIK alarmuje również, że znacząco wzrosła liczba tzw. dzikich wypoczynków czyli kolonii i obozów, których nie zgłoszono do kuratorium – w efekcie czego są poza jakąkolwiek kontrolą sanepidu i straży pożarnej, a rodzice nie mogą mieć pewności kto i w jaki sposób zajmuje się ich dziećmi. Co szósty skontrolowany wypoczynek był prowadzony bez zgłoszenia do kuratora oświaty. W ocenie NIK niepokojący jest wzrost w ostatnich latach liczby dzikich wypoczynków – w 2011 roku odnotowano ich 41, a w 2014 już 109.
