W Gdańsku za trzy lata ma zacząć pracę ekologiczna spalarnia odpadów. Podpisano umowę na jej zaprojektowanie, budowę i eksploatację z włosko-francuskim konsorcjum.
Inwestycja ma kosztować ponad 450 mln zł. Większość, bo 68 procent, pokryje unijne dofinansowanie. 30 procent to pożyczka z Narodowego Funduszu Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej, pozostałe 2 procent jest wkładem własnym Gdańska – poinformował samorząd tego miasta. Spalarnia powstanie w Szadółkach na powierzchni 3 hektarów. Będzie nosiła nazwę Port Czystej Energii, ma przerabiać 160 tys ton odpadów rocznie. Będzie to frakcja resztkowa, czyli śmieci nie nadające się do recyklingu. Wyprodukowane w spalarni ciepło trafi do miejskiej sieci ciepłowniczej, energia do sieci energetycznej. Partnerem projektu będzie 35 pomorskich gmin. Uruchomienie instalacji przewidziane jest na rok 2021.
