Kaszubi w Kanadzie chcą pamiętać o swojej historii
Drużyna hokejowa Kashubian Griffins (Kaszubskie Gryfy) z Kanady poinformowała nas o swojej inicjatywie, mającej na celu upamiętnienie imigracji Kaszubów w 1858 roku.
Stowarzyszenie Kaszëbskô Jednota zostało poproszone o wsparcie przy realizacji projektu. – W prowincji Ontario planujemy ustawić tablicę upamiętniającą imigrację Kaszubów w 1858 roku. – informuje David Shulist. – Nasza drużyna będzie ściśle współpracować z rządem prowincji Ontario, aby społeczności z Wilna, Barry’s Bay oraz Round Lake Centre w Ontario zostały uznane za pierwsze kaszubskie osady w Kanadzie – dodaje Shulist. Projekt planowany jest jako całoroczny.
Odsłonięcie tablicy pamiątkowej odbędzie się 2 września 2017 roku. Jest to szczególnie ważna data w historii kaszubskiej emigracji, ponieważ 2 września 1859 roku pierwsi kaszubscy pionierzy wystąpili o przydział ziemi wzdłuż drogi Opeongo.
