Kierowcy będą mogli sprawdzić liczbę punktów karnych przez internet – to jedno z założeń projektu przyjętego przez rząd. Nowe przepisy mają m.in. umożliwić wprowadzenie nowych e-usług.
Od czerwca ubiegłego roku działają już: „Historia pojazdu” i „Bezpieczny autobus”, dzięki którym można sprawdzić niektóre informacje o używanym samochodzie, który zamierzamy kupić i zweryfikować niektóre dane autobusu, którym chcemy podróżować. Od nowego roku mają ruszyć cztery kolejne. Będzie to dostęp online dla kierowców do własnych danych – ma im umożliwić bieżące monitorowanie zastosowanych wobec nich kar i ograniczeń – czyli m.in. sprawdzenie liczbę własnych punktów karnych. Usługa „Udostępnij dane pracodawcy” – zapewni weryfikację uprawnień kierowcy przed powierzeniem mu służbowego auta, „Mój pojazd” – pozwoli właścicielom na dostęp online do danych i informacji o ich pojeździe a „Sprawdź szkołę jazdy” – pozwoli na ocenę jakości kształcenia szkół jazdy przez przyszłych kursantów na podstawie udostępnionych danych statystycznych, co ma zwiększyć konkurencję między nimi i przyczynić się do wzrostu jakości świadczonych usług.
Na stronie internetowej kancelarii prezesa rady ministrów podano, że nowe usługi zaczną działać od 4 stycznia przyszłego roku. W ramach nowelizacji ustawowej rozszerzono także zakres danych wprowadzanych do Centralnej Ewidencji Pojazdów i Centralnej Ewidencji Kierowców.
