To rodzice powinni nauczyć swoje dzieci języka i kultury kaszubskiej – przypominają działacze regionalni w przeddzień Międzynarodowego Dnia Rodziny. Cały ten rok na Kaszubach przebiega pod hasłem Roku Dziecka Dwujęzycznego.
– Ten schemat w swoim domu wprowadził radny z gminy Żukowo i działacz Zrzeszenia Kaszubsko – Pomorskiego Jacek Fopke.
Jeszcze 70 lat temu większość Kaszubów posługiwała się w domu językiem kaszubskim. Pod naporem polonizacji i władz PRL-owskich nastąpiło przerwanie przekazu pokoleniowego języka. Rodzice przestali do dzieci mówić po kaszubsku, najczęściej dlatego „żeby nie miały problemów z językiem polskim”. Dzisiaj naukowcy obalają tę tezę. Udowodnione jest, że mówienie do dzieci od najmłodszych lat w kilku językach poszerza ich inteligencję i przygotowuje do poznania obcych języków. Rok dziecka dwujęzycznego na Kaszubach ustanowiło stowarzyszenie Kaszëbskô Jednota. Tego lata członkowie organizacji przeprowadzą na Kaszubach akcję promocyjną mówienia do dzieci po kaszubsku, w lipcu zorganizowane będą też kolonie dla dzieci dwujęzycznych.
