Na Kaszubach trwają obchody zakończenia II wojny światowej
8 maja 1945 roku hitlerowskie Niemcy, po 6 latach najtragiczniejszej w dziejach ludzkości wojny, skapitulowały.
– W II wojnie światowej zginęły setki tysięcy Kaszubów – mówi historyk dyrektor Muzeum Ziemi Kościerskiej Krzysztof Jażdżewski.
Wojna pochłonęła 72 mln ofiar, w tym 5 i pół mln mieszkańców Polski. Kaszubi stracili kwiat inteligencji swojego narodu podczas mordów w Piaśnicy koło Wejherowa oraz w wielu innych miejscach martyrologii. Byli wysiedlani i więzieni w obozach w Stutthofie i Potulicach. Nasz teren został bezpośrednio wcielony do III Rzeczy a Kaszubi byli przymuszani do wpisywania się na niemiecką listę narodowościową i wcielani do Wermachtu. Muzeum Ziemi Kościerskiej przy okazji 70 rocznicy zakończenia II wojny światowej prowadzi projekt „Kościerzyna 1945”. Uczniowie szkół średnich będą przeprowadzać wywiady z mieszkańcami miasta, którzy pamiętają tamte czasy. Dzisiaj w wielu samorządach i szkołach złożone zostaną kwiaty przy pomnikach i na cmentarzach upamiętniających ofiary II wojny światowej.
