Dziś Wielki Piątek czyli drugi dzień Triduum Paschalnego. Wierni wspominają śmierć Jezusa na krzyżu. To także jedyny dzień w roku, w którym nie odprawia się mszy świętej.

Obowiązuje post ścisły, można zjeść jeden posiłek do syta, a pozostałe bardziej skromne. Podczas wieczornej liturgii Najświętszy Sakrament w zakrytej monstrancji umieszczany jest przy grobie Jezusa. Jutro Triduum zakończy Wielka Sobota – dalsza adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu oraz święcenie pokarmu na świąteczny stół. Wielka Sobota kończy się po zapadnięciu zmroku. Później odprawiana jest msza Wigilii Paschalnej, ale są to już obchody Niedzieli Wielkanocnej.
