Uroczystość połączono z otwarciem nowej sali gimnastycznej. Poświęcenie roku 2019 tej arcyważnej dla Kaszubów postaci to decyzja Zrzeszenia Kaszubsko – Pomorskiego.
Na początek wybrano podstawówkę w Miszewie, bo patronuje jej „Méster Jan”. Był kaszubskim ideologiem, autorem słownika, wybitnym poetą – wyliczali uczniowie i zaproszeni goście. Uroczystością w Miszewie zakończono też rozbudowę podstawówki. Powstała tam sala gimnastyczna z salami dydaktycznymi. Przy okazji przebudowano też sieć wodociągową, powstał też budynek gospodarczy i zbiorniki retencyjne. Inwestycja kosztowała gminę Żukowo ponad 4 mln zł.
