Tradycyjny instrument służący dawniej sygnalizacji dźwiękowej oznajmił nadejście nowego roku. W Chmielnie jak co roku pojawili się bazuniści oraz ci, którym niestraszny był wiatr i posylwestrowe zmęczenie.
Dawniej bazuna służyła jako instrument obrzędowy i sposób oznajmiania ważnych treści. Do tej tradycji nawiązują noworoczne spotkania w Chmielni – mówi twórca ludowy Tadeusz Makowski. W samo południe w Parku Kamiennym pojawiły się też osoby zainteresowane tym zwyczajem. Można było spróbować zadąć w wielką drewnianą trąbę, co wcale nie jest proste – zaznacza Tadeusz Makowski. Te duże drewniane instrumenty dęte wykorzystywane dawniej do nawoływania i sygnalizowania, dzisiaj popularne są w zespołach folklorystycznych.
