Luzino uczciło pamięć jednego z największych i najbardziej znanych Kaszubów – profesora Gerarda Labudy. 1 października minęła 4 rocznica jego śmierci. Pochodzący z Kaszub profesor karierę naukową zyskał w Poznaniu. Był jednym z najbardziej znanych historyków zajmujących się średniowieczem. Był rektorem Uniwersytetu Adama Mickiewicza, prezesem Polskiej Akademii Nauk i działaczem wielu organizacji naukowych. Za swoją działalność wielokrotnie nagradzany, honorowy obywatel Poznania, Gdańska, Gniezna i Luzina w powiecie wejherowskim – gdzie pobierał naukę w szkole podstawowej. Dzisiaj ten fakt uczcili mieszkańcy wsi, odsłaniając tablicę pamiątkową na budynku szkoły. Uroczystą akademię przygotowali uczniowie. Profesor Gerard mimo, że całe dorosłe życie spędził w Poznaniu, spoczął na kaszubskim cmentarzu w Luzinie.
